Guesthouse Ruslan

Guesthouse Ruslan is located near the Aksu-Zhabagly nature reserve in Kazakhstan, the oldest nature reserve in Central Asia established in 1926. We offer full board or rooms only, tent and yurt rentals. Yurts are original Kazakh nomad tents.

Our accommodation consists of five double and one single room. The guesthouse has toilets, showers, a sauna and continuously hot water available. The kitchen offers Kazakh and international meals.

Day trips and long multiple-day hiking are organized by us to the nature reserve where you can choose to go by foot, horse or jeep. Amongst others, bears, mountain sheep, wolves and snow leopards are living in the reserve. We also offer excursions in other nature reserves like At Pistile and Sayram Ugam.

Our area is part of the main bird trekking route from Siberia to the Middle East and Africa and bird watchers will have a great time in spring and autumn. The largest Central Asian bird ringing station at Chokpak pass is only 9 kilometres away from our guesthouse. The Chokpak station is manned 5 months a year by specialists from the Zoological Institute in Almaty.

Besides nature you can visit historical and cultural places like the Hodja Ahmed Yassavi mausoleum in Turkestan, the Aicha Bibi mausoleum near Taraz and the remnants of the by Djengiz Khan destroyed city of Otrar. We offer daytrips to all these places and other places on request.

South Kazakhstan is the original habitat of the tulip and in the last two weeks of April you can see hills covered with red and yellow tulips surrounding our village. Tulips at the higher slopes can even be seen until the beginning of July.
