Berries B & B

This modern house has a far larger than usual En Suite Double Bedroom and a normal sized Double Bedroom (with shared facilities only) Both are available for single occupancy at reduced price by arrangement.

Berries is located on the edge of an area of Special Scientific Interest, Freeman's Marsh, which was given to the townsfolk by John O'Gaunt in the 14th Century, and remains famous for its wild life to this day. Cows owned by Freemen (or Commoners as they are called here) graze there in summer and one can see Voles, Kingfishers, Egrets etc regularly.

For Business people the main line trains run to Paddington in London from Hungerford Station, or by the M4 Motorway by car to the Silicone Valley of England, as the Thames Valley is often called, featuring the towns of Newbury and Reading.

For the tourist we are less than an hour's drive to Oxford, Winchester and Salisbury with their cathedrals, Windsor with its Castle, Bath and its Roman Baths and the ancient monuments of Stonehenge and the even older Avebury Stones. Also a great attraction is the wonderful National Trust Village of Laycock, the setting for many productions for both television and the Silver Screen.

This is most apt as Laycock Abbey is where photography was invented, and there is a large museum now next to the Abbey and also run by the National Trust. There is so much to see in this area - too much to mention here - but one must not forget the over 100 Antique Shops: 92 in one Arcade alone.

For cyclists the Berries is only 250 yards from National Cycle Route 4, and we have secure cycle storage in our garage.

Excellent Fly Fishing on the Kennet for Anglers can be arranged by Mick, himself an avid Flyfisherman, if given notice well in advance, in season between April and September. Still Water Fly Fishing is within easy reach and is available from the beginning of March to the end of November.
