Sparrowpit is located in the heart of the Peak District National Park and is ideally situated to suit all holiday tastes. The spa town of Buxton, where you can see the height of Victorian splendour at the Pavilion Gardens and collect your own spa water from the well. The opera house offers a variety of entertainment for an evening out.

The village of Eyam, known as the Plague Village, takes you back in time to 1665/6 when the village prevented the spread of the plague to outlying areas.

Tideswell boasts the “Cathedral of the Peak” a lovely old church to wander round.

The market town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings, has some lovely old buildings, alleyways, shops to browse around and riverside walks. Monday is market day, including a cattle market, so the town is really buzzing.

The big houses of Chatsworth, Hardwick Hall, Haddon Hall and Rennishaw Hall are within easy reach for those who love history and beautiful gardens.

The Well Dressings, for which the area is famous, are on show in villages and towns for several months of the year.

But, of course, the area is most famous for its beautiful countryside. So whether you are walking up Mam Tor, Kinder Scout, along many of the paths and trails (including the Pennine way and the Limestone Way) you can be sure that the scenery will be spectacular.

For a gentler stroll, visit the Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, and for animal lovers, the Chestnut Centre Otter, Owl and Wildlife Park is close by.
