Maison de Bas Villa
A very warm reception awaits you from Shelley at this charming Victorian villa, set in grounds of 2˝ acres in the Pleinheaume (pronounced Play-hoom) area of Guernsey, in the Parish of Vale. The house, which was home to Shelley's large family, now all grown up, has been renovated to a high standard to become a comfortable and restful bed and breakfast. We are minutes away from beautiful, family friendly beaches.
Guernsey Tourism rated Maison de Bas Villa as 4 Star (“Outstanding 4 Star” were the inspector’s actual words.)
All four bedrooms at Maison de Bas Villa are on the first floor, with en-suite wet-rooms (shampoo, conditioner and shower gel supplied).
The stylish rooms all have views over various parts of the vast gardens.
Each room has tea/coffee making facilities (with Shelley’s homemade cakes or cookies on your room tray every day), a hairdryer and a 32” flat screen TV, with satellite connection. There is also free Wi-Fi.
Bedrooms, “Alderney” and “Guernsey” are at the front of the house, facing North West, with views over the front garden.
Alderney has a queen-sized pine bed, matching pine furniture and a comfortable sofa.
Guernsey is the most romantic, cosiest, room with a mahogany double bed, chest of drawers, mirror and other furnishings (all antique).
The bedrooms “Sark” and “Herm” are at the back of the house with views to the South East overlooking the main grounds.
“Sark” is a twin bedded room with classic dark wood furnishings, overlooking the back patio and garden. A lovely light and airy room with arguably the best views (over the patio and gardens beyond).
“Herm” is the largest room with beds that can either be made up as two 3ft singles or a Superking. 'Herm' is styled with pale-painted pine wood furnishings and overlooks Shelley's vegetable garden and the hens’ fields beyond.
For our guests use there is a six person jacuzzi - set in a large decked area with seating, table and loungers. There is a further secluded seating area in the formal box garden adjoining the tennis court.
When available = most of the time, there is the free use of the Astroturf tennis court and racquets.
There is ample car parking in the grounds and lots of local car hire companies. But don’t feel you have to have a car as the is an hourly bus service to St Peter Port from outside the gate (60p flat island-wide fare) or we can arrange for the hire of bikes.
Breakfast includes eggs from Shelley’s own hens that roam in the adjoining field. You are very welcome to come to meet the flock and learn their names! All meat and vegetables for your breakfast are Guernsey produce.
You won’t be confined to your bedroom during your stay as you will have unrestricted use of the luxurious parlour where you will have a radio, books, and lots of board games. The parlour is on the ground floor, next to the breakfast room.
We love animals but, as with Shelley’s own dogs and cats, canine guests can not be allowed in the house. The stables have been renovated to a high standard to provide clean, individual areas (with handmade raised beds) for two medium/small dogs, who will be made very welcome but will need to have current vaccination certificates.
Guernsey is a favourite destination for couples, families, beach-lovers, water sports enthusiasts, walkers, and bird watchers. The beaches are fabulous and practically empty during the working week.
There are unmissable boat trips to the neighbouring islands of Herm and Sark and even an exciting, high-speed, (rib) boat trip to see sea birds and other marine life around our sister islands.
Come to Guernsey - you'll love it - especially if you stay at Maison de Bas Villa.
