The Brewery Inn meets the needs of locals and tourists, who are searching for a refreshing drink, quick snack or an unfussy meal in a friendly family pub. It is a value-for-money pub providing freshly prepared and cooked to order food. There is an extensive menu ranging from sandwiches and jacket potatoes to lasagne, scampi and steak. There are also many vegetarian options.
Well behaved children are always welcome, with a large range of food and drink available for them. The Brewery Inn has a pleasant lounge bar that seats up to 80 people. There is also an enclosed riverside patio area, easily seating 40 people, that is always popular in the summer. It provides outstanding views of the River Severn.
Children can get a fascinating insight into Victorian life at the nearby Blists Hill village or you can visit Enginuity! - an interactive science museum in Coalbrookdale. The Brewery Inn dates back as an Inn to 1850. In 1980 Roger C Hotchkiss became licensee and today with his daughter Fiona and their staff, they operate to very high standards. The Brewery Inn has just been awarded a very good 4 star rating by Telford and Wrekin Council for food safety and hygiene.
The river around the Coalport area is no place for the faint hearted with rock and boulder strewn banks, rapids, fords and deep gullies cut by very strong currents. This stretch holds long, lean, dark coloured Barbel that fight every inch of the way to your landing net.
The rewards here are outstanding for anglers who take their time getting to know the many facets of this powerful, natural waterway. A wander along the stretch in mid-summer, when the river is low will show the very many variations in depth and contours of the riverbed.
