Rumbeams Cottage Bed & Breakfast

Rumbeams Cottage is tucked away at the edge of the village of Ewhurst, next to farmland and the Ewhurst Cricket pitch, and surrounded by trees and meadowland. You really wouldn’t know we were here unless you looked hard!

The biggest noise around here is birdsong – and the occasional squabble among the chickens, who live at the bottom of the garden. We have almost an acre of land, about half of which is dedicated to garden, the remainder to an orchard, a kitchen garden and the chicken run. Breakfast eggs come from our chickens, and produce from the kitchen garden whenever possible. Meat is sourced from local farms, and everything else from the village shop.

The village of Ewhurst boasts one pub, the Bulls Head, which is a short walk of about 15 minutes away. They do a full menu of lunchtime and evening meals, and a good selection of local beers and wines. The Scarlett Arms, in Walliswood, is about 10 minutes in the car, as is the Wheatsheaf at Ellens Green and the Parrot at Forest Green – all in lovely settings and providing very good food and drink.

Ewhurst is at the edge of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is surrounded by lovely places to visit: Losely Park, Clandon Park, Polesden Lacey, Wisley, Watts Gallery – to name but a few. We will happily provide you with directions, opening times, and so on. We are very close to the North Downs Way and the South Downs Way, amongst other very good walks.

Your room is fully equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable: a king sized bed, with lots of pillows; a large en-suite bathroom with shower (and lots of towels!); television; hospitality tray with those nice little extras like hot chocolate and good biscuits; Wi-Fi; and a well stocked book-case.

Breakfast can be served at whatever time you choose – from cock-crow to almost lunchtime. You have a range of choice, which will include cereal, muesli, yoghurt, juices, toast and marmalade, jam and honey and, of course, the full English breakfast. All dietary needs are catered for.

You are welcome to use the sitting room, where we have Sky television, and to walk in and sit in the garden. There are lots of walks starting from Ewhurst Green – as long or as short as you choose – and lots of nice places to sit on the Green, to admire the view or watch the cricket.

Gatwick and Heathrow are a very short distance away, as are the major link roads to motorways – the M25 is about half an hours drive. The nearest town is Guildford, with a cathedral and a history, which goes back to the Iron Age, and Cranleigh – the largest village in England – is just two miles away.
