The Horse & Groom Bed & Breakfast
Listed in The Good Beer Guide, the Horse & Groom is a friendly and welcoming country pub located in East Ashling, a picturesque village at the foot of the South Downs just a short journey from the charming city of Chichester.
Eating at the House & Groom is special. Diners enjoy home-cooked food in the pub's rustic restaurant, which is framed by flint walls and old timber beams. Large double doors open out to an enclosed garden, which is the perfect place for alfresco dining
The Horse & Groom's beautifully renovated 17th-century flint barn, situated just a few steps from the pub, houses eleven en-suite twin and double bedrooms, which are perfect for a special break or a business stay.
All rooms have colour TVs and coffee/tea-making facilities, and disabled facilities are available. Every overnight stay includes a delicious English breakfast, whose fresh ingredients are all locally sourced.
The high-quality Horse & Groom menu is hearty and diverse and includes regularly changing specials and seasonal local ingredients.
The atmosphere in the Horse & Groom bar is as warming as its grand open fire. The flagstone floor, aged wooden tables and wood-panelled bar provide a traditional public-house charm.
The cask beers are expertly cared for, maintained by the landlord in an old-fashioned underground cellar and raised directly to the glass using a traditional hand pump, helping to ensure that the ales are of the highest standard.
The bar is also well stocked with carefully selected lagers and ciders, as well as wines that are sourced from specialist importers.
Keep up to date with what’s being poured behind the bar, including guest ales and new wines, on the Horse & Groom blog.
