Our B&B is a country house located in one of the most interesting part of Agrigento and overseeing the centre of the town “Rupe Atenea (Athena’s Hill”).

The Rupe is a rock of 351 metres height, so-called because Polibio, in the 9th book of his stories, wrote that this is where the acropolis of Akragas with its temple dedicated to Athena and Jupiter Atabirio was found.

From Rupe Atenea one can enjoy the view of the doric Temple of Demetra and the Sanctuary of Ctonie Divinity, the Temple of Junon, the Temple of Harmony, the Temple of Hercules and the Jupiter Olympic Temple.

The place is also very interesting for nature-lovers: here live the hedgehog, the fox, the rabbit, the shrew, the kestrel, the small duke, the owl and other special birds. Here grows the dwarf palm-tree, typical 'Giummarra' of our area, the dwarf fern and many more plants. The hill, made of the sandy-type rock is beautiful and majestic.

Moreover, one can admire the entrance of Hypogean, of a Greek wall and the remainders of a building which, according to Caruso Lanza, could be the vestiges of the tomb of the doctor acragantino Akrone. There is also a small church, known as 'Gibets' or the 'Lord of the Ship'. The term 'Gibets' could make one shiver, but in fact it has nothing to do with capital execution.

Not only does the house offer outstanding views and you will be able to enjoy the spectacular sunsets, it also possesses all modern comforts. Our wide and luminous rooms with great views of the Valley of Temples and the sea are all supplied with house linen. The equipped kitchen is at our guests’ disposal and two large balconies overlook the garden and the Valley of Temples. The garden is also at our guests’ disposal for those who love to read and relax in the beauty of Mediterranean landscapes.

Each of our typical rooms overlooks the garden. Our garden is rich with various Mediterranean plants and trees. You will be able to enjoy relaxing walks amongst the olive and almond trees. We also leave the old family oven in the garden at the disposal of our guests.
