The Titanic Trail Walking tour is a must do for all visitors to the town of Cobh, it is a journey through the mists of time, covering the last days of the, considered unsinkable vessel, the S.S Titanic and also deals with the Convict Ships that left our Harbour for far away lands such as Australia, Tasmania and the Caribbean. Cork Harbour is considered to be the 2nd Deepest Natural Harbour in the World after Sydney Harbour in Australia .

'The Cove of Cork 'as it was named back in the 18th century played host to a young Queen Victoria of England back in august of 1849.on her sail past the town of Cove many people lined the quay walls and shore line welcoming her to Ireland and on seeing the enormous welcome of the people of Cove, she asked to be brought ashore and to meet the people of Cove and in the ensuing time 'Cove ' was renamed 'Queenstown ' in her honour and it remained so until the 1920's it then reverted to ' Cobh 'which is the native Irish spelling for ' Cove '.

The British forces held the Port of Cork since early in the 17th century. This was deemed necessary due to the American Revolutionary Wars of 1776-1783 when the threat to maritime trade routes forced Britain to adopt a convoy system in which Cork Harbour, because of its westward location, became a principal port of assembly.

By 1790 the fortification of Cork Harbour by the British Admiralty was underway The building of forts overlooking the harbour entrance at Carlisle and Camden and the commencement of works at nearby Haulbowline and Spike Islands copper-fastened Cork Harbour's strategic importance and ensured its continued in times of war for over a century.

The French and Napoleonic Wars of 1793-1815 saw the establishment of the Royal Navy in the harbour also, a development that would influence the fortunes and status of Cobh right up to the 1930's

Leisure activities include over 5 golf courses in the near vicinity, sailing schools and sea angling.

Cobh also plays hosts to over 50/60 visiting Cruise Ships throughout the year.
