Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend.
Trout fishing: You can walk to many excellent fishing spots, or bring your boat - there is parking for your trailer and a launching ramp for Lake Rotoiti nearby. Lake Rotoiti is great for fishing - you can take a picnic and find a spot to yourself. Relax with a soak at the Manupirua Hot Springs on the southern shore, accessible only by boat.
Fly fishing: Trout Pool Road, The Delta (highway 33 launching ramp), Ohau Channel and Hamurana Stream.
Trolling: Most success seems to be by Manupirua Hot Springs and near the cliffs by Hinehopu (eastern end Rotoiti). Lake Rotorua is not far away and also popular for trolling.
You can ask us to arrange a trout fishing guide for you.
Walks: A 10 minute walk takes you across the Kaituna River to Okere Falls where you can see kayaking, sledging and white-water rafting over falls up to 7 meters high. The Okere Falls track goes through native forest and follows the river to Trout Pool Road. On the way you can view the site of Rotorua's first power station and take a track down to riverside caves. From the trout pools you can retrace you steps on the track or take the road back to the car park - allow 1-2 hours.
