Welcome

By The Mile B&B opens specially for one month of the year during the August festival period.

We are situated at the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town just a few footsteps from the Royal Mile in the very hub of The Edinburgh Fringe Festival; yet in a quiet courtyard where one can wind down with a martini between shows. We are a mere five minute walk from the city's main train station, Edinburgh Waverley, where the bus from the airport also stops.

History

Coinyie House is so-called because it became the site of the Scottish mint in 1574 and operated through the reigns of seven monarchs from James VI to Anne. Scottish coinage came to an end under the Act of Union in 1707. The last coins struck here were half-crowns and shillings dated 1709, marked with an 'E' beneath Queen Anne’s head.

All three rooms are spacious doubles with tall sash windows permitting glorious natural light.
Tea and coffee making facilities in each room
Both Hot Breakfast and Continental are available at your request
Free internet access in the communal area
Bathroom with shower, bath and WC is shared. There is an additional separate WC and wash basin.
Children welcome (please inquire about any special arrangements)
Pets are unfortunately not allowed

Rates

We have 3 double rooms available, exclusively for the festival period from 3rd-27th August 2012

Price from £50pp per night, inc. breakfast (based on two sharing)

£15 deposit per room per night

Cancellation with less than 72hrs notice incurs full fee. Prior to that, only loss of deposit

Deposit can be paid by direct bank transfer (preferred) or Paypal. The balance is then paid in cash during your stay (this avoids any card charges for you, and means we avoid the numerous problems involved in taking card payment as a small business - there are cashpoints on the Royal Mile)

Location

By The Mile B&B is situated in a quiet courtyard yet just a few footsteps away from the Royal Mile and only a few minutes walk from most Fringe Festival Venues.
It is a five minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Train Station, where the bus from the airport also terminates. And a five minute walk from Princes Street.
