The Wild Rose Inn
Woodstock, New York... the famous small town known ‘round the world for it’s artist colonies and home-grown music has become a chic bedroom community for New York City.
In 1969, Woodstock became the symbol of the Age of Aquarius when it lent its name to a three-day love-in and rock concert - the town was on the fringe and tolerant of the hippie crusade but not the epicenter. Though the festival was ultimately held fifty miles away at Max Yasgur’s farm in Sullivan county - Woodstock village maintains an impressive array of vivid locales and locals that continue the tradition of flying a “freakflag” with dignity.
Flower-Power devotees and New York City daytrippers flock to the community in peasant skirts and tie-dyed T-shirts, if but for a day. And when day turns to night….The Wild Rose Inn - Bed and Breakfast, an award-winning Victorian inn, offers superior accommodations the likes of which might be found in New Orleans or San Francisco.
Ms. Marti Ladd, innkeeper and cookbook author, serves up the hospitality at this gingerbread manor with her unique style and graciousness. Considering Ms. Ladd’s experience in professional stage design, it is not surprising that The Wild Rose Inn has been renovated and decorated so magnificently.
Each of the five guest rooms feature sumptuously draped and pillowed beds, and an eclectic selection of antique Eastlake and Renaissance Revival furnishings. Named one of the “Best Overall Inns” of America by Arrington’s Press, “The Rose” incorporates the amenities and privacy you’d hope to find at a romantic get-away; all rooms with private baths featuring whirlpool tubs, French brandy and chocolate truffles.
A gourmet Continental breakfast is served each morning. In the summer months there is a salt-water (heated) swimming pool – with pool hours designed for star-gazing! The Wild Rose Inn is exceptionally located in the heart of Woodstock village – just steps away from galleries, restaurants, boutiques and head-shops!
