The Richards Bed & Breakfast

Located on a quiet street, the Richards Bed & Breakfast in Narragansett is one of Rhode Island's most charming bed and breakfast inns. Resembling an English country manor, the 8500 square foot home, built from stone quarried on site, resides in a beautiful area of South County that was once a rambling, two-hundred acre estate.

Although the floor plan has stayed true to the original design, every inch of the mansion has been updated and restored. The house, built in 1884 even includes a working elevator. The home is furnished with antiques from estate auctions in the area.

Nancy is an avid gardener, adding to the gardens each year. Some of the gardens include a white garden, a shade garden, water garden with koi and a new formal garden that Nancy designed and created. A full gourmet breakfast is served daily which may include freshly baked homemade muffins, a main dish such as Eggs Florentine or blueberry pancakes, local Johnny cakes, bacon or sausage and fresh fruit.

The home is located about 1.5 miles from beautiful Narragansett beach where you can surf, kayak, or just relax in the sun. Surf boards can be rented at the beach and kayaks can be rented on Narrow River which flows into the bay at Narragansett Beach. There is also a wooded path behind the house that leads to the rocky coast.

There is a firepit with seating and a hammock by the Koi Pond. Tennis courts and golf courses are located near by. Many guests enjoy walking to the beach.

The bed and breakfast is about 25 minutes from Newport and the Block Island ferry is less than 15 minutes away. The University of RI is about 15 minutes from the house. We are now on Facebook and Twitter!
