Welcome to Maerdy Isaf, a deceptively large renovated cottage. It looks over Gwaun Cae Gurwen, an old traditional mining village, but today it has a tranquil aspect with views of the surrounding hills and common land. If you are looking for a comfortable 'home from home', we may be able to help. You can enjoy a complete retreat from everyday life in this spacious but cosy cottage or, if you're looking for an activity based holiday, there's plenty to choose from - horse riding, golfing, walking (lots) or even surfing!

Our home is newly refurbished with a mix of original features & contemporary style. We are able to offer one single bedroom and two large double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and a large shared family bathroom. Flat screen TVs and tea & coffee facilities. The lounge has an original fireplace with log burning stove, ideal if the nights turn a little chilly. Breakfast is served in a large dining room that comfortably seats eight. We have a games room with full size snooker table and old fashioned jukebox and a separate gym.

The house sits on a 1/4 acre and the rear garden has a large lawn and small pond, along with a substantial elevated decking area to enjoy the evening sunshine, or you can just sit under the hawthorn tree or canopy and enjoy the views.

The village is within walking distance and is surrounded by stunning countryside, nestling at the foot of the Black Mountains. The Botanical Garden of Wales is just a short drive. It is an ideal location for exploring the local area; glorious beaches, castles and fantastic scenery are all within easy reach. We are close to the Brecon Beacons, a beautiful part of Wales full of traditional market towns.

Swansea is only a twenty minute drive, whilst a little further away is the Gower Peninsula. This was the first region in the UK to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. To really appreciate the beauty, view 'A Quick Guide to the Gower Peninsula (Wales)' on 'Youtube'. All are less than a 40 minute drive away. We can supply local tourist information as we do not want you to miss out on what this lovely part of the world has to offer.

We offer a 2course evening meal with a complimentary drink for £7.50pp. For stays of 3 or more nights, we can offer you a free meal with a bottle of wine on any night and/or a reduction on room prices.
