Velog is a family run bed and breakfast. Velog sits in the pretty village of Borth-y-Gest on the shores of the Glaslyn Estuary to a backdrop of Mountain ranges.
All rooms are fully centrally heated with en-suite facilities, TV, tea and coffee.
We serve our guests good home cooking with a wide choice of locally sources produce.

We are a central base for all attractions and activities of the Snowdonia National Park with all within 30 mins drive.

The local bus service comes to the village every hour and from Porthmadog you can explore via bus or train to any part of North Wales right down to Aberwystwyth.
For the adventure holiday maker there is Golf, Pony Treking, Mountain climbing, Rambling, Quad Biking, Sailing, Fishing, Rock Climbing all within the vacinity.

Portmerrion, WelshHighland and Ffestiniog Railways, Mt. Snowdon, Llechwedd slate caverns are all close by.

Porthmadog is 3/4 mile away and is a busy tourist town with a good variety of shops, restaurants and pubs.

Sandy beaches are set below cliff top paths to offer shelter and privacy. Waters are safe for bathing and water sports of all kinds.

The Hamden Glaslyn Leisure centre is 3/4 mile away in Porthmadog with swimming pools, sauna, gym, sports halls etc.

Lovely walks through valleys of lush green and shady woodlands around the village give the visitor to the area a little time to explore off of the beaten track.

Early in the season visitors can go and see the Osprey project just 3 miles from Porthmadog run by the RSPB. The Ospreys arrive early in March and can be seen until they leave in September. They usually rear 2 to 3 chicks and the RSPB have a great visitors centre at Llanrothen.

THe Welsh Highland railway has just connect up this year, 2011, with the Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog and you can enjoy a great day out travelling to Caernarfon from Porthmadog along the route that takes you round the foot of Snowdon right through the pretty countryside to your destination. Drop off here for 3 hours and explore Caernarfon and have a spot of lunch before the return journey.
