The lion hotel is situated close to the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal on the edge of the village Gilwern. With easy access to train and bus services and all major towns and cities. Abergavenny is aprox four miles from the lion hotel in one direction and the new train station at Ebbw Vale is aprox five miles in the other.

The Monmouthshire and Brecon canal run's aprox 400 yards away from the lion hotel, easy access to the museum at Blaneavan tourist attraction by car or by bus. The town of Brecon is aprox 30 min's drive or 50 min by bus from the village of Gilwern where thy hold a annual jazz festival. Abergavenny hosts a cattle market every week it also hosts a general market on Tuesday and Friday on Wednesday they host a flea market this takes ten mins by car or 15 min by bus.

Abergavenny castle also host a number of events during the year and also has a couple of golf courses, there is also a well-known golf course on the edge of Brecon town. The towns of Brynmawr, Tredegar, Merthyr Tydfill offer a range of shopping facilities. Merthyr Tydifill is the furthest away from the lion hotel at aprox 15 min drive all these towns are on the main bus route from the village of Gilwern.

Throughout Monmouthshire they host a number of activities such as walking, horse riding, cycling, outward bound centres to name but a few. The city of Cardiff is aprox 40 min drive from the lion hotel along the A465 heads of the valley road Cardiff hosts all the big major events such as the six nation rugby, pop concerts and all other major events.

The lion hotel has a mixed capacity of six letting rooms consisting of single, double, twin, and family. The family room has the capacity to sleep four people with one double and two single beds the lion has a family lounge bar which hold's aprox 50 people the restaurant has the capacity to sit 50 covers and is use for a number of occasions such as small wedding parties, birthday parties etc.

The lion hosts a fun quiz every Monday night at nine o’clock the quiz night normally consists of anything up to 40 people.
