The Wern Horse & Rider B&B

The Wern is a lovely mid 18th century farm house overlooking Llangorse Lake. We are surrounded by our own land and extensive gardens, which we open up under the National Garden Scheme. In the gardens and orchards we grow all our own vegetables and fruits which we use for our home cooked 3 course dinners. Our chickens provide the free range eggs and our meat comes from our neighbour.

We have 1 twin and one double room. Our guests have the use of our 2 sitting out areas in the garden, a large terrace and a lovely decked area next to the stream. Dinners and breakfast are taken in the large farmhouse kitchen and are 'en famille'. When you come back from your days riding, tea and home-baked cakes are waiting for you.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, but only if they can stay outside and sleep in a stable or horse box. We have sheep, poultry and 4 cats as well as our own 2 sheep dogs, so the dogs have to be fully sociable and not chase the other animals.

For the horses we have large airy stables and several safe, well fenced paddocks with plenty of natural shelter. Tacking up can be done in the barn and the facilities include: tack storage, drying and washing down for the horses. Fodder for the horses and hard feed can be bought in for you.
We have several mapped routes with extensive route notes and for the more adventurous; we have developed a 4 day, 75 mile long distance ride with overnight stops en route. All the maps and route notes are provided. If you would like to have a luggage transfer to the other B&Bs that is no problem, we will do it for you.

If after all the riding, you have developed some sore muscles, no problem. We have a very experienced, fully qualified sports injury and body masseur on stand by. We will need to book him in advance but he is excellent.

Brecon town is only 5 miles from us and Hay-on-Wye, the famous book town is only 15 miles away. There are numerous places to eat, varying from straightforward pubs to excellent restaurants and we are very happy to book for you. The pub in our village is only 10 minutes to walk to and has a lovely friendly atmosphere.

In Llangorse is a superb climbing centre, one of the biggest and best in the UK.
