B & B Juno, Kyoto
B & B Juno was originally built in circa 1927 as the traditional home and study centre for a Japanese chess master; later it was the home for a Shinto shrine priest and his family. We have preserved the historical and traditional elements of this old house/compound and converted it into a small, luxurious bed & breakfast.
B & B Juno is just west of the Silver Pavilion/Path of Philosophy area, the heart Kyoto's most popular cultural/tourist zone. B & B Juno is also convenient for access to the Golden Pavilion (20 min. by bus), Arashiyama (40 min. by bus and train), the Gion geisha district (20 min. by bus) & the city's downtown core (20 min. by bus). Kyoto JR Kyoto Station (the city's main train station) is 30 min. away by bus.
B & B Juno is located in a traditional Japanese neighbourhood within a wall-enclosed compound, facing the lushly forested north side of Mount Yoshida (200 meters east of Kyoto University's main campus). We offer friendly service, privacy, lots of space, and the chance for foreign visitors to experience the beauty and charm of traditional Japanese living.
Despite our quiet neighbourhood location, main bus routes, all kinds of great restaurants, bicycle rental, international ATMs, a 24-hr convenience store, are just minutes from the front door.
We have three private, traditionally decorated rooms on the second floor of our old Japanese house. The rooms all have tatami mats on the floor. For your comfort our traditional futon beds are outfitted with an additional top mattress that shapes to your body and provides extra padding. All of the rooms are private, bright and comfortable.
