Mango Tree is about revitalizing 75 year old townhouses in the heart of Georgetown, Penang. Situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood, Mango Tree is a rustic boutique bed & breakfast suites located along the buffer zone of the UNESCO living heritage enclave. It is one of Georgetown’s more obscure hidden gem. Our sign is small and we do not make an effort to be seen. Along with that anonymity comes the secluded charm of being uniquely small and intimate.

Mango Tree is a labor of love for us, a group of young local culturally-ambiguous individuals. Having travelled extensively around the world, we represent the new breed of Penangnites - assimilating foreign cultures and yet passionately embracing our roots. By providing guests the Mango Tree home to explore and discover the living heritage town of Penang, we will be able to share the beauty of our culture with the rest of the world.

In a city where hotels have a decidedly “let’s not rock the boat” attitude, Mango Tree is a definite standout among them. From a design perspective, it is conceived as a fusion of different cultural identities, inspired by the notion of creating something new from integrating – an influence parallel to the tradition of the Peranakan culture that is unique to the straights settlement (Penang, Malacca and Singapore). Being designed and furnished to focus on creating a guest environment that is simple yet refreshingly different, Mango Tree’s approach defines another level of understated luxury.

Our goal is to provide each and every guest the luxury of privacy, comfort and a peaceful environment. If you are looking for a unique place that is as luxurious as any resort, but totally private and unique, come to Mango Tree. We like to say, we are “exquisitely off the tourism grid!”

Mango Tree is situated in the quiet residential area of George Town. Easily accessible by 40 minutes taxi ride from Penang International Airport and 15min bus from Georgetown main bus terminal.
A 10 minutes walk will take you the nearest groceries store, restaurants and our famous local street food. Mango Tree is also close to Penang’s Botanical Garden and a 10 minutes drive to the heart of UNESCO living heritage enclave.

For the convenience of our guests, we also provide pickup services from the Penang airport, ferry terminal and main bus terminal for a minimal charge.
