Vanishing Falls Bed & Breakfast
Living on the edge ... of nature
Vanishing Falls Bed and Breakfast is located near the southern end of the Slocan Valley, a picturesque mountain valley in the southern interior of British Columbia. This area is known as the West Kootenays or Columbia-Kootenays, after the major rivers in adjacent valleys, or just the BC Rockies. Slocan Park is the name of the village where our home is located. It is roughly equidistant and somewhat north of the cities of Castlegar and Nelson. Through Slocan Park pass Highway 6, the Slocan River and the Slocan Valley Heritage Trail, all roughly parallel.
The nearest airport with passenger service is at Castlegar, while the nearest major airports are in Kelowna and Spokane, WA.
On booking your stay with us you will be provided with maps and directions to help you find us.
Our B&B is a comfortable, modern, well-appointed Victorian-style house built as a family home in 1993 on 7 wooded acres at the end of the road, facing Slocan Ridge and with a sundeck backing on the Slocan Valley.
Your hosts, Jean Nelson and Cal Burton, moved here in 2007 and immediately set about converting the house and grounds to an attractive bed and breakfast venue.
Three rooms are available for our guests, each named for an area of Canada and decorated with corresponding pictures from our recent explorations.
The Canadian Shield Room
- At the front of the house with a view of the recurrent vanishing falls, this cozy room contains a comfortable queen-size bed.
- $70 per night (double occupancy)
The Maritimes Room
- Spacious and airy, with a comfortable queen-size bed, TV, ceiling fan and bookshelf, this room has space for a double futon bed, if needed, for an extra adult or children.
- $80 per night (double occupancy)
The West Coast Room
- This large, relaxing room with a bay window and window seat is set up with two comfortable twin beds and room for an extra single cot, if required.

Additional living space for our guests includes a luxurious shared bath/shower/washroom, 2 half-bathrooms, a sitting room, a dining room, & a sundeck with a view of the valley, trees, grounds and gardens. By prior arrangement you may utilize our barbecue on the deck to prepare an evening meal.
For your convenience in checking e-mail and surfing the net, internet access is available through our high-speed wireless LAN, either through one of our computers or through your own wifi-equipped laptop.
Stroll across our lawns and around our gardens, or embark on a more energetic exploration of several pathways on our 7 wooded acres or nearby nature trails.
A delicious, full, hot breakfast is served between 7 and 9 am, and can be enjoyed in the dining room or on the deck. Alternatively, guests may choose a healthy choice breakfast of granola, yogurt and fruit. We are happy to take into account any food allergies or preferences.
