This is a great opportunity to see and experience how people live in this warm, tropical part of Ecuador with its wealth of agricultural produce. Accommodation is basic - you'll have your own room but will usually share bathroom facilities. There is also the option of a basic cabaña or cabin if you prefer more privacy. All the homes and families are different and each has its own charm.

There are no famous, high-profile tourist attractions in our part of Ecuador. What we offer is the friendly hospitality of local communities, the natural beauty of mountain valleys, sparkling waterfalls and virgin forest and the year-round attractions of warm weather, abundant birdlife and a fascinating local culture. The B&B accommodation is as varied as the families themselves - charming, rustic, quirky but above all friendly and welcoming. We can arrange activities such as river rafting, horseriding, forest treks, visits to our other sustainable rural development projects and much more.

CRACYP (which stands for Rural Reforestation and Progress Network Corporation, in Spanish) is a reforestation charity and this form of eco-tourism is just one of our sustainable rural development projects which are improving the quality of life in local villages. We pay a fair price to the local families whose homes you will stay in and also to the people in the local community who help us by supplying transport, horses, meals or guiding services.

We always make sure that our development projects involve reforestation and in this case each night of your farmstay holiday includes the cost of planting one tree. Better still, YOU get to plant it, so you will know that you personally have made a lasting difference to the local ecosystem and to reducing global warming. Alternatively, you can boost the local economy by paying a village labourer to plant your tree seedlings for you.
