Thornleigh House offers a luxury 4 Star 3-room suite, ideal for short or long stays and perfect for families, couples, small groups and independent travellers. We are set in a peaceful village within an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Tamar Valley, overlooking pine forests. We are located within the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, ideally positioned for exploration and activities. Away from the hustle of town life, yet conveniently located for the wide range of activities locally and further afield. The village boasts a traditional inn, with many other local restaurants and inns close by.
Just a few miles from the award winning market town of Tavistock, with the nearby Gunnislake railway station providing a short service to Plymouth, crossing the grand Brunel viaduct at Calstock. The historic house and quay of Cotehele is a stone's throw away. Fantastic for the moors of Bodmin and Dartmoor, perfect for photographers, walkers, cyclists, canoeists, bird-watchers, mining heritage historians and visitors exploring the history, nature, beaches and coastal walks of the area. The Tamar Valley Centre close by offers a wide range of advice, services and activities.

Thornleigh House is ideally situated to explore the expansive moors of Bodmin and Dartmoor, with all that they offer. We are 1.5 miles from the Tamar Valley Centre and are perfectly located for visitors to the area, walkers, cyclists, bird-watchers and historians wishing to explore the mining heritage of the region. There are nearby facilities for tree walks (on high ropes), horse-riding, sailing, canoeing and fishing. A 2-hour walk along the Tamar river begins and ends at the house (we can provide a map).
Nearby places of interest and towns offering facilities include Cotehele, Calstock, Kit Hill, Pentille Castle, Buckfast Abbey, Tavistock, Cheesewring, Mount Edgecombe, Callington, Liskeard, St Austell, the Eden Project, Plymouth and Exeter. We are an ideal base from which to explore the many beaches and coastal walks on the north and south coasts.
