Grimscott Country Retreat
We have only opened this year and are offering family and double rooms of a high standard with TV, fluffy dressing gowns, and tea/coffee making facilities and seating areas in each room. Each room has views of the countryside or the ponds.
Guests are also welcome to relax in the downstairs lounge area, where we have a TV and games available for use, and a log fire when the weather is a little colder. Outside we have several large patio and seating areas with easy access to the large fishing ponds beside the house.
There are several walks from the house where you can explore the countryside and discover all the wildlife in and around the ponds and forest areas. (Dogs are welcomed with well-behaved owners.)
We offer a choice of freshly prepared breakfasts, from locally sourced products, served in the dining room overlooking the fishing ponds, or outside on the patio if preferred.
Children are well catered for with several play areas that have trampolines, a slide, Wendy house, boat, and tennis court. However, we often find that they are just happy fishing in the ponds for frogs (or fish!), or running around the woods where they can go on ‘bear hunts’ and maybe find the ‘fairy bridge’.
Bed and breakfast guests have free use of the tennis court and two large fully stocked fishing ponds.
Painting and drawing is popular around the retreat, with many locations where you can sit and paint, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. Even if there are children around you can always find a quiet spot to enjoy.
Nearby (about 5 minutes drive) is the lovely seaside town of Bude, where you can wander around the shops, along the canal, visit the sea pool or one of the many beaches that Bude has to offer. Surfing is very popular in the area and if you don’t already surf there are several companies that offer surfing lessons. There are so many things to do and places to visit around the area that you are sure to have a fun packed time.
