The Ravensworth Guest House

The Ravensworth is an elegant house, built of the local Lakeland stone, very close to various shops and restaurants.

We have fourteen bedrooms which include single, standard double, king-size and four-poster rooms.

All our rooms are en-suite, most with bath and shower. We have the usual tea and coffee making facilities in each bedroom including ground coffee and a cafetiere.

All our rooms are decorated to a high standard and we have superior rooms with little extras such as bathrobes and DVD players.

There is a guest lounge with TV and DVD player with a large selection of films to watch.

We have a large conservatory where we serve our traditional full English breakfast as well as fresh fruit, yoghurt and a choice of cereals. Leading out from the conservatory is our sun terrace where refreshments can be served.

Windermere village is just around the corner and Bowness village, which is actually on the lake, is a fifteen to twenty minutes walk. There are various restaurants and shops in both villages. From Bowness, various boat trips can be taken, as well as the ferry, which takes you across the lake.

On the other side of the lake you can reach the home of Beatrix Potter, the village of Hawkshead and Coniston lake and village.

A short car ride away or cruise on the lake will take you to the village of Ambleside and slightly further on is Grasmere where you can visit Dove Cottage, the home of Wordsworth. There are various stately homes and castles to visit as well as the charming Town End, a house owned by the same farming family since 1626 and has changed very little in all those years.

Whatever you want to do, The Ravensworth is the perfect base to explore from, whether you just want a short, picturesque walk or a complete tour of the whole of the national park.
