Burr Tree Cottage has a delightful annex full of old world charm and character with exposed oak beams and stone features. It has excellent accommodation consisting of one double ensuite bedroom and one twin bedroom with own bathroom and, guests own lounge separate from owners accommodation. It is set in picturesque countryside, designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, 2 miles from the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
Facilities include off road parking, TV and video, evening meals available (by arrangement), special diets catered for-tea/coffee making facilities. Excellent English or Continental breakfasts, children welcome, centrally heated throughout. Sorry no smoking or pets.
Kirkby Lonsdale is a small historic market town in the Lune valley with
good restaurants and pubs. The area is on the fringe of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and a short drive from the Lake District making it ideal for sight-seeing, walking and cycling. For the more adventurous there is also caving and pot-holing in the vicinity.
Local places of interest- Sedburgh and Dent 10 miles, Kendal, Lancaster and Settle 11/14 miles, Levens Hall and gardens 12 miles,Holker Hall and gardens 20 miles, Windermere and Hawes 20 miles, Ingleton falls and caves 4/5 miles.
The village of Cowan Bridge is on the A65, the East/West route joining Yorkshire to the Lake District. It has historical literary connections as the location of the 'school for the daughters of the clergy', which was attended by the Bronte sisters. It is now a row of three stone cottages and is regularly visited by members of the Bronte society.
