Briar Lea Guest House is a large country house set in it's own grounds and gardens and is ideally situated for exploring the borders or for a stopover on your journey, being close to Gretna Green, Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle Castle and Carlisle. A lovely place to shop and lots of local delicacies on offer.

Gretna green, world famous for its weddings, is just a few minutes away.
The local history is a must for the interested. The debatable lands and the Reivers, local only to this area just have to be explored.

We offer you comfortable accommodation, with 3 en-suite fully equipped, ground floor rooms, (2 with a connecting door) and 'The Garden Room' has a Jacuzzi bath.

We also have 3 first floor standard rooms. (Shared Bathroom) Our rooms are a mixture of single, doubles, twin and large family rooms, enabling us to cater for most requests. We can accommodate up to 16 people. We have a cot and high chair available for the younger guest.

All our rooms are equipped with TV, hospitality tray, hairdryer, central heating plus a small fan heater, extra blankets, and local information. We also offer home cooking and friendly service.

We have a heated swimming pool available to our guests (May-Sept) and gardens for your enjoyment. For the cyclist we have secure lock up and bikers are also welcome. Many attractions are close by as are sporting activities e.g. fishing, bird watching, golf and horse riding, and of course lovely walks. The Esk River in Longtown is famous for Salmon fishing and the walk alongside the river is beautiful. A variety of wildlife can be seen, and some of our guests are known to have spotted an otter.

Pets are welcome for a small charge with well-behaved owners.
We keep menus of nearby pub/restaurants, that do good quality, yet reasonably priced, evening meals. Takeaway meals can also be bought in Longtown.

Local taxis are available if you decide to leave the car behind. Prices are reasonable.
A Longtown firm can show you their wonderful vintage and classic cars on hire for weddings, and local florist can organize your flowers too.
