Swanson House

A former eighteenth century coaching inn in the Cumbrian market town of Brough, Swanson House provides luxury bed & breakfast accommodation and a fully licensed silver service restaurant, specialising in dishes made from the highest quality local produce.

Swanson House offers two luxury ensuite bedrooms.

The Odette Room is a spacious double bedroom with a kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom and small private seating area. The light walls and 100 per cent cotton white linen are contrasted by dark navy silk curtains and upholstery.

The Cygnet Room is twin bedroom with ensuite shower room. This warm and comfortable room is decorated with crimson silk curtains and cushions and 100 per cent cotton white linen.

Decorated with stunning photographs of the local area and scented by freshly cut flowers, both bedrooms include a digital television, a hairdryer and wifi access. Guests are invited to enjoy complementary tea, fresh coffee and homemade biscuits throughout their stay. The ensuite shower and bathroom facilities include complementary Sedbergh Soap Company products.

An additional single bed may be added to the Odette Room and a cot may be placed in either bedroom, at your request for a small additional charge.

All guests of Swanson House also are invited to enjoy a range of facilities during your stay. We aim to make your time with us as relaxing and luxurious as possible.

Guests share use a beautiful pantry, overlooking the cobbled path that leads to the house's former stables and providing a stunning view of the ruins of Brough Castle. A freshly baked cake is placed in the pantry each day for guests and you may choose from a range family games. For visitors who choose to purchase some of the local cheeses, meats or fish, there is a small communal fridge in which guest may store these items.

Breakfast is served in our ground floor restaurant. Guests are also welcome to enjoy an evening meal with us for a reduced rate.

If you decide to venture onto the local fells for the day, we are happy to prepare a picnic on request, which is provided in a small returnable cool bag.

Swanson House also offers off-street parking, WIFI access and ironing facilities for no additional charge.

Swanson House's restaurant offers the highest quality local fresh produce, cooked to perfection.

From Deer n'Dexter venison, to Bessy Beck trout and Wensleydale blue cheese, dishes combine classic English ingredients with modern flavours and techniques.

The recently renovated silver service restaurant is a romantic and stylish environment, in which you will enjoy a unique culinary experience.

To ensure all food is as fresh as possible, Swanson House is committed to a small, perfectly balanced monthly menu, supplemented by a calendar of special events, including a Cumbrian Fish Feast, a Burn's Night Supper and a Chocolate Festival.
