Hillside Bed & Breakfast, Keswick, Cumbria
Hillside is a lovely Edwardian house set on an elevated site with dramatic views across to the Skiddaw range.
We take special pride in our garden, which is laid out to compliment the house's period with stunning borders and a lovely old fashioned feel. Guests are very welcome to explore and sit out in the garden.
Hillside is perfectly located for convenient access to all the facilities and outdoor activities in this area of outstanding natural beauty.
Only minutes away lie some of Lakeland's finest fell walks, plus the famous Whinlatter forest park with its internationally renowned mountain bike trails. Derwentwater lies a short walk away with its two marinas and Keswick is a couple of minutes drive away or a pretty 20 minute stroll along the field footpath.
Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement but owners must keep them on a leash at all times since there are sheep in the neighbouring field.
Children are welcome and there is room for an extra bed in Skiddaw. Sadly, we can't take under fives because we have a garden pond. Guests are also advised that children must be accompanied in the garden by an adult at all times.
Both our rooms have been totally refurbished to the highest of standards for the 2011 season. Stretch out in our lovely kingsized beds, which are tastefully complimented with top quality bedding and pillows. The rooms have been styled to keep their period feel yet offering the best of modern convenience.
Skiddaw also has extra space if needed to accommodate children between the ages of five and 16 years. There is no charge for children sharing with adults but there is a charge of £5.00 per child for breakfast. Let us know in advance of your needs and we will try to accommodate them to the best of our ability. Guests with children are reminded that we have a garden pond and children must be accompanied by an adult in the garden at all times.
The larger of our two rooms, Skiddaw comes with an ensuite shower room and benefits from a private corridor leading to its own luxury bathroom with a feature stand alone bath.
The room boasts a kingsize bed, stunning views of skiddaw, tea and coffee making facilities and a coloured television with Freeview and a DVD player.
With its spectacular views of Skiddaw and Latrigg, this room has pretty feature beams, a kingsized bed and is fully ensuite with a roomy electric shower. Like Skiddaw, it is fully refurbished and comes with tea and coffee making facilities and coloured television/DVD player.
Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Hillside by prior arrangement. There is no extra charge but guests are reminded that their pets must be kept on a lead at all times. We also don't allow dogs to be left alone in bedrooms. The area is extremely dog friendly and most pubs and many shops allow dogs in with their owners, including The Farmer's Arms in Portinscale, which is a two minute walk from the house. We can provide dog beds for the rooms and feeding bowls etc to help out with travel clutter. Just let us know what you need and we will try to help. Guests bringing their pets will also be pleased to know that Hillside lies on the route of a pretty footpath through the fields to Braithwaite which is perfect for walking dogs along.
Check-in is available from 4pm onwards.
Please check-out by 10:30am on the day of your departure.
