The No Smoking Clifton at Paignton

The Clifton is a smoke free, licensed home from home in the heart of the English Riviera between Torquay and Brixham. We have a green policy and our bedroom carpets and mattresses have undergone treatment with Allerg-Stop.

Our superb optional evening meals are lovingly prepared by Steve who caters for all; including special diets and vegetarians are most welcome. He presents a different menu daily, always with a choice, and you can be assured of a well balanced freshly prepared meal.

The Clifton provides all that is needed for a relaxing holiday or base for touring Devon. All of our 15 rooms are individually decorated with TV, clock radio, hair dryer, hostess tray, etc. Families are welcome and one of our rooms accommodates two adults and three children (or three adults and two children) and our family unit accommodates two adults and two children in two rooms with a connecting door.

There's a large bar lounge for you to relax in, to enjoy a drink or catch up with other guests on the day's happenings. We also have complementary wireless internet connection.

There's so much to see and do in this area that two weeks will not be enough - we can provide you with ideas, and the public transport system is so good that you don't really need a car whilst you're here.

There's coastal walking, Dartmoor walking, fishing trips from the harbour, ferry to Brixham or Torquay, Steam train to Dartmouth, or the Round Robin which will take you along the coast by steam train, where you can explore Dartmouth before taking a cruise up the river Dart to Totnes, with time to explore there before taking the open top bus back to Paignton. There's a beautiful model village in Babbacombe and Kents Cavern is in that same area.

Paignton Zoo is on everyone's list for a visit - a huge environmental park which happens to contain animals, including the baby female black rhino which achieved world wide fame by viewed on the world wide web when she was born.

There are a number of superb golf courses in the area, and we offer a 25% discount on the Dartmouth Golf & Country Club Courses and Leisure Centre. For those who would rather not play a full round of golf, there's the lovely Cayman Golf course just along the road, which is a special game invented for the Cayman Islands where space is short - suitable for all the family and expert golfers too.

Cockington is a beautiful medieval village which is a must see whilst in the area and can be reached on foot from here in 45 minutes.

Plymouth and Exeter offer two days of exploration, and the Eden Project is only 60 miles away and presents a superb day out, with perhaps a visit to the little village of Polperro on the way back.
