Highcliffe House is an elegant and romantic Victorian house which stands on a steeply wooded cliff above the Exmoor village of Lynton.
Apart from views that take your breath away attention to detail is our highest priority. In every bedroom you will find beautiful white cotton sheets and robes and in our gleaming white bathrooms and shower rooms large fluffy bath sheets and high quality toiletries from Gilcrist & Soames plus a few little extras to make your stay a home from home.
The House was originally built as a Victorian gentleman's summer residence and has generously proportioned rooms and retains many of its original features. The bedrooms are styled in William Morris, Sanderson or Laura Ashley prints with matching furnishings and silk cushions. There are two sumptuous lounges with sofas to sink into and a panoramic dining room with commanding views of Lynton, Lynmouth, the Lyn Valleys and across the Exmoor coast line to Wales.
Here you can enjoy the very best breakfast with several choices from the very best of local producers and homemade bread. At weekends the candlelit dining experience has the lights of Wales twinkling across the sea. Food leans towards modern European with Devon beef and fresh fish from the day boats at Brixham and if you love chocolate our homemade puddings will excite and delight you. The extensive wine list has fine wines from the old and new worlds to tempt you and a selection of Spirits plus beer and Exmoor Ale.
Exmoor is beautiful and diverse with its sweeping moorland, extensive wooded hills and valleys with streams and waterfalls. It meets the sea at Lynton & Lynmouth with the highest sea cliffs in England and the rugged North Devon coastline where the South West Coastal Path rises and falls along the edge of the unspoilt Bristol Channel.
Leave your car in our onsite car park and enjoy many walks that start from our front door. Within 30 mins travelling by car you will encounter the striking Atlantic beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands with miles of sand dunes and surf plus the prestigious Braunton Burrows Golf Club.
