Just off the A30, London to Exeter, the hotel is approached by a mile of winding drive from Gittisham, a time warp once described by Prince Charles as the ideal English village. The alluring combination of heritage and a welcoming, lived-in-feel makes this perfect for providing traditional country hospitality. Furnished with understated elegance, the House exudes an airy, magical atmosphere. There's an abundance of fresh flowers, huge log fires, treasured antiques and mullioned windows.

Close by, the World Heritage Coastline and National Trust Houses, Gardens and the antiques town of Honiton.

For entertaining, there are two dining rooms decorated with chandeliers and beautifully hand-painted walls. For small meetings and private dining, there is the elegant Panel Room with a real sense of history and grandeur and at the other end of the scale, the Georgian Kitchen. The aroma of logs burning in the iron cooking stove welcomes you, along with the magical glow of candles - there's no electricity here.

In 2006 Taste of the West awarded Combe Devon Restaurant of the Year. The two Master Chefs of Great Britain weave their culinary expertise, drawing from Devon's bounteous seasonal larder and making flavours and textures speak for themselves. The wine list contains some 200 interesting and unusual labels including an excellent Chablis collection.
