Abingdon House
We warmly welcome you to our friendly, informal home. On arrival, you will be offered refreshments of tea or coffee and biscuits or homemade cakes, after being shown to your spotlessly clean comfortable room.
We arrived in Torquay in January 2005 total novices to the trade. So we decided to enter 'The Crystal Palm Awards 2005' in the new business category. We didn't win but were in the final.
During this season we will be providing fresh strawberries, raspberries and currants, grown in our own garden, there will also be homemade jams and yoghurts served at breakfast time.
Our ground floor room has been adapted to accommodate wheelchairs and people with limited mobility. The well appointed en-suite wet room is a good size, with a shower seat and handrails. We have a small ramp into the breakfast room.
All our rooms are equipped with television, hospitality tray, clock/radios and hairdryers and will soon have 'wifi' for those of you who need to bring your laptop computers.
We have a comfortable guest lounge with television and DVD player.
We are open all year including Christmas and New Year.
Torquay has a new attraction opening this year. The 'High Flyer' is a fixed balloon that rises to a good height for beautiful views over the bay.
A museum, sealife centre and Torr Abbey, which re-opens this year after extensive refurbishment.
There is a 'Bygones Museum' in nearby Babbacombe, with its Victorian shops and a wonderful peep into the past living conditions. The model village is a must for children old and young.
We are in an ideal position for touring other beaches, towns and of course Dartmoor.
