Come and stay in our elegant Georgian farmhouse. A warm welcome awaits you with easy access to the front door to unload your cases.
Tea and cake are normally served in the drawing room on your arrival or in the garden on sunny days. Come and hear the birds sing!
We have a twin bedroom with a pair of Edwardian 3'6 beds with very comfortable mattresses. There is a washbasin and the private bathroom is three steps down to a half landing. This room overlooks the woodlands of Killerton and the Culm Valley .
There is also a very large family room with a double bed and two 3' single beds. This room also has a washbasin and the bathroom is immediately opposite the bedroom door. This room is at the side of the house and looks over the garden with distant views towards Dartmoor . This room can also be used as a double or a twin room.
The drawing room is furnished with comfortable chairs and sofas. There is a television and video for guests use and also a good selection of books to suit all tastes. Leaflets advertising local attractions are also here and there are maps to borrow.
Two and three course evening meals are sometimes available with prior notice. As the food is locally sourced 24 hours notice is needed. Enjoy a glass of home-made wine with your meal (or bring your own). The dining room has views of the woods of Killerton.
Fresh pink grapefruit are usually served at breakfast or choose from a selection of cereals. Bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and fried bread are the main course. Home made marmalade and jams are available and unlimited tea and coffee. Lovely creamy scrambled eggs; cooked slowly on the Rayburn; are available, if preferred. Fruit and yoghurt is also usually on the menu.
We have retired from farming and the land is let to another farmer who has dairy replacement heifers and free range laying hens who supply our eggs.
Centrally situated for touring, Exeter with the Cathedral and Quay is about 7 miles. The coast at Exmouth is about 18 miles. Dartmoor and Exmoor are easily reached and the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan can be visited in a day
Hayne House is in an excellent area for touring and are within an easy drive of both the south and north Devon coasts; with Exmouth being the closest. The Cathedral City of Exeter with shops, theatres and the impressive Quay area is easily reached.
The thatched village of Bickleigh with the Mill for a wonderful shopping experience is about 4 miles away. There is also the castle and the Fisherman's Cot (where Simon and Garfunkel are reputed to have written 'Bridge over Troubled Water'). Silverton with its pubs for meals and shops is one mile away.
National Trust properties are also easily reached, Knightshayes, Castle Drogo and A'La Ronde are within an easy drive and for the energetic Killerton is within walking distance across the fields and through the park.
Maps and leaflets are available for local walks which include the Silverton Hills and Criss Cross which is the highest point in Devon off the moors and has fantastic views from Exmoor, Blackdown Hills, Haldon, Dartmoor and including the Exe estuary to Exmouth.
The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are easily visited in a day.
