We are a small & friendly Bed & Breakfast situated at Portland Bill Opposite the Lighthouse.
Portland is a unique and unusual Island. Due to its location the Isle of Portland has an extensive range of Flora & Forna. The coastline and disused quarries are designated Sights of Special Interest.
Portland is a central part of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site on the Dorset & East Devon coast. The Island is set out from the mainland and offers some spectacular sea and coastal views.
The best views are from the top of the Island giving you panoramic views of Chesil Beach, Portland Harbour and the mainland.
A coastal walk is recommended with may signed routes on the Island. Natural Attractions on the Island include Kingbarrow Quarry - with its wildlife an geology, Broadcroft Quarries -Butterfly conservation reserve, Tout Quarry - a unique combination of heritage, biology, nature and sculpture.
Visitor Attractions include - Chiswell earthworks celebrates the completion of the Chesil Sea Defences, Chiswell walled garden a quiet haven close to Chesil Beach, Church Ope Cove, Lower Lighthouse Bird Observatory and Field Centre, Old Higher Lighthouse Portland first lighthouse, Portland Castle Henry V111 coastal fortress overlooking Portland Harbour, Portland Museum, Rufus Castle dating back to the 15th century, the remains of this cliff side fortress stand proudly above Church Ope Cove and of course the famous Portland Bill Lighthouse in operation since 1906 and is also a visitor and tourist information centre, Portland Villages - Chiswell, Castletown, Fortuneswell, Verne Common, The Grove, Easton, Weston, Westcliffe, Weston, Southwell, Portland Bill.
