Bucks House Country House B&B
Bucks House is a Grade II listed house in the centre of a medieval village, unchanged for 500 years. The house is furnished with works of art, antiques and oriental rugs.
All bedrooms have armchairs, remote control televisions, bathrobes and all toiletries and bath sheets rather than bath towels. Our beds have electric blankets, down duvets and feather pillows to ensure a good nights sleep. Although the house has retained its period features, it has all modern comforts such as secondary double glazing and central heating.
We are not on the Stansted flight path so a quiet night is assured. All rooms have a hair dryer, heated rollers, a fan and a heater. There is a tea/coffee tray with fruit teas, hot chocolate, decaffeinated coffee mineral water and biscuits.
Guests are welcome to use our lovely walled garden.
We are 40 minutes from Cambridge, 20 minutes from Saffron Walden and the beautiful Suffolk wool towns of Long Melford and Lavenham are a short drive. Duxford Air Museum is half an hour away. Finchingfield, which is two miles from Bucks House, is thought to be one of the most beautiful villages in England and features on many calendars.
Great Bardfield is famed for its artists who lived here in the fifties and sixties, including Edward Bawden, Eric Ravillious and John Aldridge. Many of their paintings are now on display at the Fry Art Gallery in Saffron Walden.
Breakfasts consist of a wide range of cereals, yoghurts, full English breakfast with free range eggs, dry cured Suffolk bacon and local sausages. Home made preserves and toast with freshly brewed coffee or tea and orange juice.
We do not take children over one year and under ten, but have a travel cot and high chair for babies. We do take dogs by prior arrangement.
There is so much to see in this beautiful rural part of Essex.
