Forwood Farm Bed & Breakfast
A beautiful boutique styled 17th century Cotswold country house recently totally renovated to a high standard, offering fabulous ensuite accommodation. It is situated on the outskirts of the wonderful ancient town of Minchinhampton, which lies between Stroud and Cirencester, alongside 600 acres of National Trust common land, and is home to the Gatcombe Estate and the Princess Royal.
Minchinhampton is an excellent example of a small Cotswold town, many buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Complete with post office, butcher, chemist, antique and village shops, coffee house and restaurants.
Activities include walking, cycling and golf. Gliding and even hot air balloon rides can be arranged. Many pubs and restaurants are easily accessible from the house and give ample opportunity to sample the delights on offer.
Nailsworth a busy, town full of interesting shops is a 30-minute walk, or just a few minutes by car. Stroud and Tetbury are just a ten-minute drive. Stroud is famous for its award winning farmers market and Tetbury for its amazing architecture and antique shops, also home to the newly opened Prince Charles’s Highgrove shop.
Westonbirt Arboretum is located just outside Tetbury and well worth visiting. Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds is a 15 minute drive. Here you will find the lovely Abbey and Abbey grounds and the Corinium Museum.
Cirencester also hosts a wonderful farmers market and weekly market. There are wonderful art galleries, cafes and restaurants in which to while away a whole day or afternoon. The larger centres of Bath, Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham are all within an hours drive.
It is a great place to stay for Badminton, or Gatcombe Horse trials or for Beaufort Polo events, also ideal for all Westonbirt events.
