1 Hall Cottages
1 Hall Cottages is a (17th century cottage in the picturesque village of Much Hadham, approx 5 miles from Bishops Stortford, and 8 miles from Harlow and Hertford. It is within easy reach of many historic houses such as Audley End and Hatfield House and 45 minutes from Cambridge. We are also approximately 2 miles from the Henry Moore Foundation at Perry Green, with the option of walking there across the fields, passing some of his statues actually in the fields.
We have a beautiful old-fashioned cottage garden, and visitors are welcome to sit there if the weather is nice. For garden and plant lovers there are a variety of nurseries to visit: we are practically opposite the award-winning Hopleys nursery, about 7 miles from the Chelsea-medal winning Van Hage's nursery at Great Amwell, just ouside Ware, and Langthorne's nursery near Takely is about 25 minutes away. The recently recreated Victorian organic garden at Audley E nd is well worth a visit, and there are also summer picnic concerts at Audley end. Capel Manor is also about half an hours drive up the A10 with its gardening school and variety of show-gardens.
There are several excellent pubs nearby for evening meal, two in the village itself, and another, the Fox and Hounds in Hunsdon, which is about 3 miles away which is superb, but rather expensive, We are also about twenty-five minutes from Jamie Oliver's Dad's pub, The Cricketers, at Ricking, which is well worth a visit. and 45 minutes or so from Jamie's new venture, the Cock, near Braintree.
