The Hermitage Country House
The Hermitage Country House has been awarded 5 star gold award by Enjoy England for guest accommodation.
The Hermitage itself was originally built in 1813 and was home to the legendary Micheal Hoy but opened to the public in 1995 to provide the best b and b accommodation on the Isle of Wight.
The Hermitage is one of the most popular Isle of Wight bed and breakfasts and those who visit us can quickly see why. The Hermitage sits on top of St. Catherines Down the second highest point on the island amid its own grounds of 12 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands home to many species of wildlife including the rare red squirrel.
Accommodation boasts spacious rooms, unique antique furnishings(four poster beds are available), spar baths, televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, guest lounge with wifi, guest sun terrace and private off road car parking . Our service is second to none and we are regularly told we serve 'the best breakfast we've ever had'. The remote setting offers the ideal retreat for those wanting a restful break.
The gardens and grounds offer quiet seclusion and the setting is ideal for those who enjoy country walks. Footpaths abound in all directions and the top of the downs is National Trust land with panoramic views across the Island.
A study on the first floor overlooking the gardens offers guests a selection of books and magazines as well as being an excellent vantage point to admire the flora and fauna.
Several public houses serving food are a short drive away and several island restaurants are highly recommended.
All bedrooms are non-smoking, but ashtrays are provided on the patio. We regret we cannot accommodate children or pets.
