Anchor Lodge Bed & Breakfast
Welcome to Anchor Lodge where we hope you will have an enjoyable stay and a leisurely break from the hustle & bustle of every day life.
There is always plenty to do on the Isle of Wight from a lovely summer's walk across the downs taking in the views and sunsets, to the more energetic activities such as cycling, sailing and scuba diving.
The guest house is run by Julie and Jon Mace. We pride ourselves on giving a first class service to our guests to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay, not forgetting the full english breakfast which will keep you going all day! If you think you might need topping up at lunchtime we can also provide our guests with a packed lunch, just as long as we get a bit of notice! Our rooms are spacious, comfortable and welcoming.
Jon also runs the PADI dive centre 'Aqua Diving School', which is just a 2 minute drive away. He has been a scuba diver for 16 years, an instructor for 10 years & has a wealth of experience within the dive industry. Catering for holiday divers just wanting to go for a bimble dive or for those wanting more adventurous diving, to those who want to enrol & do the full-on PADI Open Water Diver course enabling the individual to qualify & dive anywhere in the world.
Alternatively, book up a dive and stay course. We will arrange everything you need, just book up letting us know your requirements! What could be simpler?! Dive kit and course will all be included and don't forget, at the end of the day, sit back and relax with a drink at the guest house and reflect on your day's achievements.
All rooms are equipped with flatscreen TV, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer & clock radio alarm.
Our family room consists of a king size bed was well as adult sized bunks. The en-suite has his & hers wash basins, spa bath and shower and of course a WC!
The double room en-suite is equipped with a wash basin and shower with WC just a few steps away.
Our twin room is not ensuite, but has a large bathroom very nearby.
Free WIFI is available.
We are positioned a just 10 minute walk from Shanklin town and approx 15 minutes walk to the beach. Countryside walks are even closer with us being just a short stroll away from beautiful scenery.
Getting here couldn't be easier, from Portsmouth to Ryde on the Fastcat (passenger ferry) takes just 15 mins and then a short train ride to Shanklin station. You are then literally an 8 minute walk away, of course we can pick you up from there if you require it.
If you wish to walk from the station, turn right as you come out of the station entrance and go down the steps to the far corner on the right. At the bottom of the steps, turn right and just carry on walking until you reach us on the right hand side on the corner of Princes Way and Sandy Lane. Taxis are available of course from the station and cost about £3.
Alternatively, if you wish to bring your car over with you, you have a choice of three crossings across the Solent. Then it's just a short journey to Anchor Lodge.
We operate a non smoking guest house for the comfort of all our guests.
We are also part of project aware and try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. ie if you feel that your towels are ok for another day then please hang them on the towel rail or alternatively leave them in the base of the shower for changing.
Your co-operation in this is greatly appreciated and helps to slow down the greenhouse effect and reduce pollution
We can assure you we will do our utmost to make your stay at Anchor Lodge as enjoyable and as hassle-free as possible.
