The Abergavenny Arms Hotel
A 14th century coaching inn tastefully developed over the preceding centuries as a classic country inn. Its history includes acting as the local court with cells below the lounge bar.
Now a modern inn with three delightful rooms equipped with TV and tea and coffee making facilities, the pub specialises in good, homemade food with daily specials , fish specialities and a two-course fixed-price menu. Sunday food offering has a carvery trolley titled 'Eat-All-You-Like' and Friday night is 'Steak Night' with two steak meals and a bottle of house wine for £20.
The bar sells two fine real ales with a regularly changing guest beer, lagers, stout and mild. There is a carefully selected wine list featuring wines from around the world. The pub is listed in the Good Beer Guide.
The Abergavenny Arms Hotel is located in the village of Frant, dating back to medieval times. The village is on the edge of Eridge Park, owned by the Nevill family, now represented by Lord Abergavenny. In the times of the Napoleonic Wars the area was vital for the production of iron necessary for the making of cannons.
The surrounding areas of Kent and East Sussex are renowned for the beautiful scenery of the Weald of Kent and Sussex and the Garden of England. Frant is also within easy reach of the south coast and the national park of the South Downs. Many castles are possible to visit in the area including Bodiam, Herstmonceaux, Hever and Scotney.
There are also many gardens in the area and the National showgounds of South England are within easy reach.
Rooms are available from £45 per night (winter) single, £65 per night (winter) double/twin and there is a family suite comprising a double and twin bedroom with private bathroom from £110. All room rates include breakfast. Long term stay rates are negotiable. Meals are served lunch and dinner and all day Sunday in both bars and the restaurant.
