Willow Cottage
Willow Cottage is thought to be approximately 400 years old, its many beams testifying to its age. Old documents describe it as a barn yard and the outbuildings were obviously used to keep horses and other farm animals. The twin/king guest room was a bakery and the double room was the store for the shop and lending library in the 1950's, the kitchen was a cafe and the cottage's long commercial history continues now offering bed and breakfast.
Overlooking the pretty garden, the ground floor Merchants Store and Old Bakery have original character beams and charm and their own independent entrance. Tastefully furnished with comfy beds and duvets - one twin (or king) and one double with a shared large shower-room, flat screen TV/DVD, free Wi-Fi, tea/coffee making facilities.
Bordering 3 counties, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland set in the beautiful Welland Valley; Middleton is a quiet village with 4 pubs all serving food in the evenings and within walking distance from the cottage. Rockingham (the castle and speedway) and Eyebrook Reservoir Fly-Fishing are less than 10 minutes away and Market Harborough, Uppingham, Kettering and the A14 are just 15 minutes away. Nearby is the historical town of Stamford; Burghley House (famous for the horse trials and beautiful house); Rutland Water (the largest man-made lake in the UK) and many other tourist attractions.
John, Paula and Archie (the dog) Orton will be pleased to welcome you and hope you enjoy your stay with us.
