When you arrive at Spital Farm, you catch a glimpse of our airstream trailer set amongst the apple orchard alongside our house.

Spital Farm, on Thirsk Road, was the site of a hospital founded by the Bishop of Durham in 1135. This provided 13 beds for the sick and poor and was looked after by a warden, five brothers and three lay sisters. Recently renovated, Spital Farm is now our home set an acre of land.

The location of Spital Farm offers easy access to the whole of North Yorkshire and beyond. Just a five minute walk is the market town of Northallerton - home to Bettys Tearooms, Lewis & Coopers Food Emporium as well as Barkers Department store. Just 10 minutes drive away is the market town of Thirsk, home to the James Herriot Museum and Thirsk racecourse.

We’re here to greet you, introduce you to the Airstream, hand over your breakfast hamper and then leave you to it.

In your luxury suite, you’ll find a comfy queen size bed made with cotton sheets, a shower room and loo and kitchen and living area. The Airstream kitchen is kitted with great appliances, and quality crockery. The heating or aircon will be on, flat screen TVs will be waiting with Freeview and a stack of DVDs to play, a music system with CDs or plug in your own tunes. Towels will be warming on the towel rail, wine chilling in the fridge and your breakfast hamper full of treats.

Northallerton is a thriving market town within walking distance of Spital Farm.
Here you will find a great mix of shops Waterstones, Fatface, Lakeland, Crew & Co and Barkers Department store. There are plenty places for a coffee including Costa and Café Nero, or try the famous Betty’s Tearooms. If you want to stock up on food visit Lewis & Coopers Food Emporium, M&S Food or any of the good, local butchers and greengrocers.

Just a 15 minute drive away is the town of Thirsk, home to the James Herriot Museum and the racecourse. In the area are the towns of Bedale, Yarm and Helmsley that have independent local shops, tearooms and family attractions.

The Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors are within easy reach for you to enjoy the beautiful countryside. In less than an hour you can be beside the sea in the fishing town of Whitby, surfing at Saltburn-on-Sea or the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Runswick Bay.

York is only short train ride away if you want to sight-see, shop, sail down the river or sample some fabulous food. York is a great day out with lots to offer whatever you are looking for.

For the foodies amongst you there are restaurants in the area – The Cleveland Tontine in Staddlebridge, The Crab and Lobster in Asenby and J Bakers in York, together with plenty of local pubs and bistros we recommend.

There will be plenty of tourist information on hand in the Aistream and we will be happy to help you if you need any local knowledge.
