Bankside B&B
Liz and Nigel look forward to welcoming you to their new non-smoking home set in the peaceful village of Uggeshall.
We pride ourselves on our friendly and welcoming service and our aim is to make your stay with us as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.
This well-appointed B & B provides double rooms with new en suite facilities and king size beds. The rooms have central heating, hairdryer, colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities. A full English breakfast is provided using fresh local produce and home made bread.
We shall be happy to advise guests on the various places of interest nearby and
recommend suitable places to eat. Sample menus and leaflets are available.
The Angel Inn at Wangford is only a mile and a half away and serves good beers and has an excellent varied menu for evening meals. There are many other restaurants and Pubs within easy reach.
Uggeshall is a tiny, typically pretty, tranquil and peaceful Suffolk village with a picturesque 14th century thatched Church. The village is the perfect place to relax and wind down from everyday life. Although quiet and tucked away, the village is within minutes of both the A12 and the A145 making communications by road easy and convenient. It is situated just 10 minutes from Southwold and Walberswick, making it convenient for all the various festivals that take place throughout the year.
Southwold is under a 10 minute drive and offers a pretty unspoilt English sea-side resort which is now blessed with a new Victorian style pier. The pier was completed in 2003 and offers superb views of the town and the lighthouse. (Make sure you look at the unexpected events that happen on the water driven clock, especially on the hour and half past the hour!). Southwold has numerous interesting shops and a number of good eating establishments. Beach huts can also be rented on the promenade.
Adnams renowned real ales are brewed in Southwold and the brewers also have an excellent wine shop, which regularly picks up national and local awards.
The RSPB Minsmere Bird Reserve is within a picturesque 15 minutes drive and offers probably the finest bird watching in the country. There are numerous hides and an enormous variety of birds can be seen throughout the year. The RSPB café also offers excellent home made cakes!
For ramblers and nature lovers there is a network of footpaths and bridleways close by that offer opportunities for many enjoyable walks. There are also a variety of walks of varying lengths direct from the house. Liz and Nigel will be happy to advise you about any walks. (We have tried to walk most of them ourselves!)
