The Angel Inn is a traditional 16th century oak beamed coaching house in the heart of Suffolk's beautiful 'Constable Country'. It offers modern comforts in an historic setting rich with character.

Winter offers relaxed and friendly surroundings with roaring log fires, whilst during the summer you can enjoy the warm evenings dining and drinking in our relaxing patio garden area.

The welcoming bar area unites the old with the new - period features mix with modern artwork and leather sofas. Should you wish for a more luxurious dining experience, book in advance and enjoy excellent personal service in 'The Wellroom' - a charming vaulted restaurant - complete with its original 52ft well.

Eat & Drink

You will find a rare blend of traditional and contemporary cuisine proudly displayed on the blackboards under the beams. Dishes are imaginatively prepared by our top class chef, Steve Jessop, and his team.

Using an abundance of local produce, especially fish and shellfish from West Mersea, our Ingredients are fresh, delicious and cooked to order. Tempting starters, Lush desserts... the choice is yours.

To accompany your meal, we offer an excellent variety of wines from a well thought out wine list to suit all pockets as well as palates. You will also find an impressive offering of spirits, soft drinks and beers - not forgetting some fine locally brewed ales.

Stay

Our accommodation is stylish, personally appointed and ideal for business travellers and leisure-breakers alike. There are six guest bedrooms - five double and one twin - all ensuite. TV, direct dial telephones and beverage facilities are available as standard, while special arrangements such as chilled champagne in your room can always be arranged upon request.

Find Us

Traveling on the A12, you will see the turning clearly signposted Stoke-by-Nayland, approximately 2 miles from Ipswich. Follow this road for approximately 5 miles until you reach the village of Stoke by-Nayland. The Angel Inn and car park will be on your left.
