Renaissance Coffee House & B&B
The Renaissance Coffee House and B&B was established in 2003. The building is a detached Victorian house, formerly two cottages, located on Church Street half way between the historic village church and the centre of this ancient medieval village.
David and Joyce Jardine offer a very warm and friendly welcome to guests from all over the world. There is one bedroom to the front of the house with a King Size bed and a well specified ensuite shower room; and a family room towards the rear of the house with one Double and one Single bed and use of the luxurious contemporary bathroom, which was refitted in spring 2009 and boasts quality limestone tiled floors and walls, underfloor heating, a full-size bath and a new electric power shower in double-sized cubicle. This is shared with the owners but is made available exclusively to you at a time to suit you, which we will arrange on your arrival.
Thanks to our flexible room options they can accommodate singles, couples, friends and families taking one or both rooms. Rates are £50 per night for single occupancy, £65 for Double occupancy (either room), and £100 for Family occupancy.
The village contains much to see - many of the residential houses and shop buildings date from the 14th and 15th centuries, when the concept of building foundations was rather woolly (appropriate, this having been a village whose affluence was based on the wool trade), and subsidence was a major problem. As a result many properties stand at precarious angles, resting on one another and (hopefully) now resting ultimately on the solid clay layer that runs beneath the softer soil.
The village contains a good range of eating places, pubs, shops and tourist attractions, details of which can be found on our website. There are many other historic villages in the area, set in beautiful rolling English countryside. Come and see us soon!
