Maison du Tilleul Argente B&B

La Maison du Tilleul Argenté (House of the Silver Lime Tree) was built in 1850 and extensively renovated to provide very comfortable family accommodation in a typical Charentais village.

We offer B&B accommodation and a home cooked evening meal (drinks included) with notice or pot luck without notice! We can also cater for vegetarians or ther special diets if given notice.

We have secured off street parking for cars, bicycles and motorbikes.

There are full wifi facilities and a secure computer if you do need to check emails but there are so many other things to do you might forget about emails completely!

The Charente is second only to the south of France in hours of lovely sunshine and we often have the first barbeque in March.

There are many local events; the village bric-a-brac in May, the Mechui - an all-day lamb barbeque feast in the woods in July, gardens to visit and sunny days at the Rejealant - relaxing on the banks of the River Charente.
September sees the annual race round the ramparts of old Angouleme for racing cars from 1930's Bugattis to Ferraris. Last year Stirling Moss was a guest of honour.

There are many opportunities for fishing, walking and cycling - another French national pastime in addition to cognac distillery tours, vinyards and wine tasting and rugby.

We have an extensive book section: chick-lit, light holiday reading, thrillers and more serious books on history, the cinema and travel that guests are welcome to borrow, exchange or purchase for a very modest fee.

Well behaved pets are welcome, we have two 'chasse hounds' (who have never hunted) called Florence and Fred.

Smoking is permitted but only in the dining room and sitting room with due consideration to other guests.

Having been through the French house hunting and renovation process we are only too happy to share our knowledge (and mistakes) with prospective house hunters.
