Bed & Breakfast / Chambres d'Hotes
Welcome to La Maison du Cadran Solaire (The House of the Sundial), Guest House/Bed and Breakfast (Chambre d'Hotes) in the department of the Tarn, in Southern France. We are situated on the edge of Mazamet, a small market town within 50 minutes of Carcassonne and 75 minutes of Toulouse. Both cities have flights from the UK and beyond.
We welcome visitors from far and near to join us in our family home to sample the delights of a small provincial French town. Although only 10 minutes walk from the Town Centre, we are at the end of a quiet no through road on the northern slopes of the Montagne Noire, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a favourite of walkers and cyclists.
We are registered with CléVacances who have graded our Blue room with 3 keys (Tres bon confort). We have 2 other unclassified (but superior) rooms with restricted height doorways (Less than 2 metres, hence no classification) also available. We can accommodate singles, couples and families all year round. Guests are welcome to join us for a special family Christmas and New Year celebration.
Accommodation
We have three rooms that are regularly available.
The Blue room has twin beds with French windows opening onto the balcony with views to the west accross the garden to the Montagne Noire (Black Mountains). Guests using this room will have sole use of their own facilities.
The Peach room can accommodate up to 4 people in a Queen size bed and 2 bunks. The room has ensuite facilities of shower, wash hand basin and wc. The room has a view to the South of the forest of the Montagne Noire.
The Lavender room sleeps 5 people in a Queen size bed and 3 singles. The room has ensuite facilities of shower, wash hand basin and wc. This room has a view to the North across the rooftops of Mazamet towards the Sidobre. At night the twinkling lights of the town and the villages on the hillside are quite magical.
A cot is available for any of these rooms
We have a large family lounge with an open fire and French doors leading out onto the balcony overlooking the garden. There is a minstrel gallery which overlooks the spacious family dining room. Meals will be served in the dining room or on the terrace depending on the weather or your wishes. You are welcome to share our garden which is about 1/2 acre with spectacular views. Although we are only a 5 min walk from the town we are at the end of a no through road with the forest close by. It is very quiet, a great place to read a book, sample the wine and enjoy the sun.
