La cochere

We offer three double rooms and one twin room which has two big antique beds, at ground floor level making it suitable for guests with limited mobility, the guest rooms have independent access from the owner's accommodation, so you can come and go as you please.

Secure parking is within the gated courtyard. For the comfort of other guests, smoking only in the garden please.

Our rooms all have en-suite facilities, and are beautifully appointed with quality crisp cotton bed linen, fluffy thick white towels, tea/coffee,making facilities, bottled mineral water, hairdryers,soap and shower gel, plus electric fans for your comfort on warm summer nights, and central heating for the winter.

Wi-fi internet access.

Bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily, with bottled water, tea and coffee replenished as needed.

A substantial breakfast including cereals, pastries, a variety of locally baked fresh bread, home made conserves, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheese, ham, fruit juice, tea, coffee, chocolate is served in the candlelit dining room. During the warm summer months breakfast is usually served in our walled garden.

Steeped in history and rich in architecture, you can explore the famous chatêaux and Romanesque churches or visit the gourmet markets and local restaurants around Ruffec to soak up the atmosphere of this charming, unspoilt region.

Local attractions include the bustling market town of Ruffec with a good selection of shops. Visit the market on Wednesday and Saturday where you will find wonderful seafood, organic produce and superb local cheese. There is also a good selection of Pineau, the local aperitif to sample.

Nearby Rejallant with river swimming, where you can rent a canoe and tour the Charente, or simply relax by the river. The medieval village of Tusson with its historic gardens is close by.

The villages of Verteuil and Bayers with their magnificent chateaux overlooking the Charente river are 5 minutes away.

Cognac is approximately 45 minutes distance, where you can visit the famous distilleries, of Hennessey, Martell, Otard and others.

Angouleme is a beautiful city and can be reached in less than 30 minutes, it has numerous pavement restaurants and cafes.

The historic Atlantic sea port of La Rochelle is just under 2 hours away, with its wonderful seafood restaurants. Futuroscope at Poitiers is a great day out for young and old.

The wine estates of Bordeaux to the South and the Loire Valley to the North are both accessible within 2 hours in each direction. We are halfway to Spain from the channel ports.
