La Thiaumerie, B&B between D Day beaches & Mont St Michel
La Thiaumerie is a 270 year old traditional stone farmhouse, set within the beautiful Normandy bocage, midway between the D-Day beaches, Bayeux and Mont St Michel, making it an ideal base from which to visit all the major attractions of Normandy.
La Thiaumerie is a well-established bed and breakfast, with the ultimate recommendation of over 40% of our guests being return visitors from previous years!
The accommodation comprises of a double ensuite bedroom on the ground floor, which although not fitted out for the disabled is ideal for those with mobility difficulties. The bathroom has been tastefully refurbished for the 2008 season.
On the first floor we have our 'Picardie' bedroom which has been romantically decorated in pale pink and cream, with a cream iron bed and an adjoining bathroom/WC. The Picardie window is framed by an ancient pear tree and overlooks the garden and courtyard of La Thiaumerie.
At the opposite end of the house we have another, large double bedroom, the 'Grenier' which has a modern ensuite shower room, with an extra large shower cubicle and WC as well as a sitting area in the bedroom. The 'Grenier' can be hired as a double room but also has a staircase within the room leading to a charming attic room with original beams for up to 3 children, making it a perfect suite for a family holiday.
On the ground floor we offer a comfortable lounge for our guests to relax in and a large dining room where breakfast is served and dinner can be booked by prior arrangement. In the summertime guests can sit on the sun terrace, overlooking the beautiful Normandy farmland and we also have an external ping-pong table which many of our younger guests enjoy.
The whole place is bathed in peace and tranquility, yet we are less than ten minutes from the A84 autoroute from Caen to Brittany and the new 4 lane highway to Cherbourg, making connections to ports, airports and other parts of France easily accessible.
As well as the more famous attractions of Mont St Michel, Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches all being within easy driving distance there also many lesser known attractions close at hand to keep the most adventurous and active holidaymaker busy for as long as they wish to stay. There is fishing, golf, canoeing bungee-jumping, hiking, tennis and horse-riding, all within a 15 minute drive of La Thiaumerie.
