Lovely Farmhouse Chambre d'Hotes/Bed and Breakfast which is situated in the heart of the Poitou Charentes region of France, we are in the southern part of the Deux Sevres that borders the Charente and Vienne departments, with its gentle climate and varied countryside, it is the gateway to exploring this charming and beautiful region of France, where it is reputed to have the most sunshine hours away from the Mediterranean coast.
We are situated just off the RN10 (1min), on the D948 (100m) in the direction of Civray. The RN10 goes from the north to Bordeaux in the south of France, which is an ideal route to the south of France, Spain and Portugal. The D948 goes from Niort in the west and towards Limoges in the east.
We are ideally situated for long holidays, long weekend breaks and house hunters, we are also ideal for people on long journeys who wish to stop off for the night and have a break.
The accommodation consists of 3 large en-suite bedrooms (2 doubles (1 can be made into a family bedroom) and 1 twin), each room has natural stone walls oak beams, the bedrooms are fully carpeted with wardrobe/drawers and wall mirrors, we also can supply a cot if needed, each bathroom has lovely vinyl flooring with shower, basin, WC and heated towel rail.
The Guest/TV/Dining Room (TV has UK sat), DVD/Video player. There are board games, playing cards, videos and books for all ages. There is a large dining table that seats 7 & people and if anybody needs a high chair we can supply one.
Enjoy our continental breakfast that will set you up for the day and is included in the price of the room. Breakfast consists of fruit juice, choice of cereals, yoghurts, brioche, pain au chocolat, Danish pastries, croissants, bread, homemade jams, tea/coffee.
On lovely warm mornings if you wish, you could have your breakfast outside and enjoy the morning sunshine. There are large gardens with fruit trees, with a large above ground swimming pool(9m x 4m),sun lounges, so you can relax and sunbathe or cool off in the pool.
Going out and about, La Scie is part of the commune of Limalonges. The land is mainly flat which is ideal for cycling and walking along the many quiet country lanes in the area. We are 5km from Sauze Vaussais where there is a large supermarket, boulangerie, hairdressers, banks and several bars and restaurants.
We are also 10km from Civray with its lovely square where you can sit outside the cafe bars and restaurants, there is also the 12th century church of St.Nicholas with its Romanesque square frontage, you can go for walks along the river Charente, also in summer you can go canoeing and fishing on the river.15km from Ruffec which has large supermarkets, shops, banks, restaurants and cafe bars, all the local towns have local markets on various days of the week.
La Vallee des Singe, the monkey park where you can walk amongst the monkeys, with over 350 free roaming monkeys and apes for you to enjoy their antics, with a feeding plan that will help you plan your day out which is enjoyed by people of all ages. Chef Boutonne, has a great fishing lake with carp over 30lb which is over looked by the Chateau, there is also a childrens play area.
To go further afield there is Futurscope at Poitiers which is a Hi-Tec environment giving visitors a chance to experience adventures on the land, sea and even into space, using the latest technologies many of the auditoriums will make you feel you are really there, an experience not to be missed.
